Adam’s been very busy!
Reception/years 1&2 kids in an Oppie with their teacher ODO for North Manchester, Adam McGovern, has been very quick off the mark this season. He’s been organising all kinds of events and activities in his area, many of which reflect the fact that youngsters who start sailing with OnBoard frequently go on to become keen club racers.

Find out what OnBoard can lead to

Future sailing champs meet Exmouth’s Olympians
Ben and Stevie with some of the youngsters Children from three East Devon schools had an OnBoard taster session recently with two ‘home-grown’ champions who are bound for the Olympics in Beijing. The event, at Exmouth Sailing Club, also introduced local councillors to the OnBoard concept – and impressed one of them so much she has donated money to the scheme.

How impressive was the event?

One day, four schools and 76 kids
Sailing fun at Banbury Cross SC Banbury Cross Sailing Club hosted an OnBoard sailing taster and kayaking day for four local schools recently - and an amazing 76 youngsters went out on the water.

Are they coming back for more?

ODO number 20 helps launch OnBoard in Wakefield
Liz McDonald Members of sailing and windsurfing clubs from all around Yorkshire and Humberside met the 20th ODO when they arrived at Pugneys Country Park, Wakefield on 20 May for the launch of OnBoard in the area.

Now you can meet Liz McDonald

Windsurfing: from moor to shore
Youngster using the new kit at Roadford A school in an estuary town in Devon has received grants from Awards for All and OnBoard to set up a windsurfing club on a lake an hour’s drive away – so that the youngsters can eventually windsurf close to home.

Why are they travelling so far?

Six-year-olds get their teeth into sailing
Children show off their new kit The youth club members at OnBoard club Youth Afloat have been successful in getting a grant of £2500 from FLOSS, a Worcestershire based youth trust charity run by teenagers. The club has recently opened to six-year-olds and the application was made in order to purchase suitable buoyancy aids and helmets.
