Some key Years for TMSC

TMSC members have sailed around the world, to Greece, America, the Balkans, Spain, the Azores, Portugal, Gibralter, Canary Isles, Ireland, to name a few, and deserve much praise.

Some cruising took place almost from the inception of the club. Club boats sailed to Cargreen for an annual Strawberry Feast, paid for by the Commodore – very popular!

In the 1960's Club boats were cruising to Guernsey, Alderney in 22 foot boats – considered large. Tréguier and Roscoff were discovered and the club began regularly crossing the English Channel, (before the days of electronics). Then Tréguier became a favourite annual event.

1983 TMSC chartered the “Falmouth Packet” to take 15 children with 4 adult club members to the Bay of Biscay, sailing to Douarnenez and Belle Ile.

1984 Commodore, Mike Morgan, linked TMSC with a Breton club at Plouguerneau and about half a dozen boats sailed over to Correjou Bay (not then found in the pilot guide books). They were met off Ile Vierge to be guided in through the rocks by the locals.

1988 Combined Pursuit race and twinning visits with Saltash Sailing Club.

1990 Club race to Plouguerneau.

1998 Ray Day led a fleet to Correjou Bay, then on to Bénodet and the Glenans.

2000 18 French boats came from Bénodet and Plouguerneau and were installed at Jupiter Point for 4 days, with high jinks at the club. Along with 20 of our boats the combined fleet of 38 sailed to Falmouth, Penzance and the Scilly Isles.
Club cruises to Fowey remain popular.
