We first purchased the land on Alonissos in 1994. At that time we were thinking of a holiday home with visions of retiring there. Over the years we have slowly built the villa with it being in a liveable condition by July 2002. We spent an enjoyable two weeks there that month.

We had know idea that events at home would find both Carol and myself redundant from our jobs during August and September 2002. This was just the push we needed and put our plans into immediate affect. My company wished me to continue working until 4th April 2003 to clear the back log of work at our Plymouth facility. Carol managed to negotiate a short term contract to integrate the new company with her old one,  to finish on the same date.

So, we both finish work on the 4th April 2003, are having a going away party on the evening of 5th April at the TMSC, and then we travel by car (41 year old Land Rover, and towing a trailer) to Alonissos via Brittany
Ferries to Roscoff, a drive across France and Italy, ferry from Ancona, Italy to Patras, Greece, across the Greek mainland and finally by ferry from Volos to Alonissos. It should take around 5 days, Land Rover willing.
At the end of April, I will be travelling back to Torpoint to pick up the yacht and sail it, via Gibraltar, to Alonissos.

On Alonissos we have a self contained Studio on the side of the villa to rent, or would rent the villa for those wishing to use it (we will move into the Studio). We will be offering transportation by Land Rover to tour the island, and on the yacht 'Pleione' , sailing the Aegean.
