Subject: Three Rivers Race Saturday 8 May 2010

"I would like to thank Keren and her support team for organising the three rivers pursuit race on Saturday 8th May 2010 Sponsored by Joe Snawdon.

The rain held off and the fresh winds gave good racing although it was a bit cold for May. With a course taking in the tamar. lyhner and tavy, the race started at 1300 with the Mirror first off. With continuous starts thereafter at about 2 minute intervals, the faster boats started over an hour later. Lyner River Mark

Beating up the river, lots of place changing throughout the fleet made for exciting racing. Around the first mark at the mouth of the river Lyhner. Before racing through the moorings at Saltash, under the bridges.

Neal Point And onto our top mark at the River Tavy, Neal Point before heading back to Torpoint with the wind behind, spinnakers were hoisted - although it proved too tight for symmetric spinnakers, the asymmetric boats managed to fly their kites most of the way back.

With a closing fleet behind, Richard Richmond in a Solo took first place (full results on the club notice board).

Torpoint Mosquito has access to a large expanse of water and it was good to sail up the river. From the banter in the changing rooms it was clear that everyone enjoyed the addition of this event to the racing calendar.

Thanks to everyone who took part in the race and its organisation.

Jack Mann"
