Update from Commodore - Club Opening
Published 15:18 on 1 Jul 2020
As the result of a lot of hard work by your committee members we have achieved a return to dinghy racing, we have the yachts in the water and plans are in place to start them racing. All of this has been done by careful risk assessments and following government guidelines, which currently still prevent us from getting our cadets on the water - but we are watching that closely!
The only things missing are convivial company, a few beers and a bite to eat. Again, having carried out a thorough risk assessment we have now arrived at a point where we can reopen the clubhouse and bar but obviously on controlled and limited basis. Whilst we have room outside for a sunny pint we can only maintain social distancing for a maximum of up to 30 members in the club house, so if we do get to that capacity we will operate a 1 out, 1in system. Drinks may still be purchased at the bar, protected by screens. Card payment is preferred, but if not, you should leave the cash on the bar and your change will be delivered. Plenty of hand sanitiser and washing facilities are available and an enhanced cleaning regime is in place. We ask that members abide by the social distancing rules and read the various instructions which will be available in the club. We will institute a 1 way system for the loos and again this will operate on a 1 out, 1 in basis. Notices in the club will guide you.
This opening will be on a trial basis so that we can fine tune the precautions but more importantly ensure it is viable. Please give it your support, but perhaps not all at the same time!
We will be operating reduced hours for the moment:
Saturday 12.00 noon - 9.00 pm
Sunday 12.00 noon to 7.00 pm
Monday 6.00 pm to 9.00 pm
Thursday 6.00 pm to 9.00 pm
Friday 6.00 pm to 9.00 pm
These times are at the discretion of the club Steward who can amend them depending on demand.
Kilby's will re-open on Friday 10th July 2020 and in line with the club's opening hours as above.
Restaurant meals are by booking only (813200) with a maximum of 4 people per booking.
Bar snacks will be from a limited menu with table service for ordering and service of snacks (please indicate to bar staff if a food order is required).
Please pay using contactless card payment wherever possible.
Dave will have the appropriate signage in place indicating our compliance with guidelines on cleanliness and a sneeze barrier at out till area (However most if not all payments can be made at the table).
Members will need to be informed that upon completion of their meal in the restaurant if no places are left in the bar they will have to remain in the restaurant or vacate the club.
Once again I would like to thank the Committee for their support during this crisis and for their determination that we can pick ourselves up and get on with it! There is certainly plenty to do. In other breaking news we have taken delivery of two new Hartley 15 dinghies which have been partly funded by Sports England and will add useful capacity to our fleet, particularly for the adult sailing initiative.
I hope you all remain well and look forward to seeing you at the club.
