Dave Kilby

Published 10:33 on 19 Jun 2021

It is with great sadness that I have to tell you all that Dave passed away in St Luke's Hospice yesterday afternoon. His passing will have relieved his suffering, but it is a great loss to his family and many, many friends. Our kindest thoughts and condolences are with them at this unhappy time, and I know we as a club will greatly miss him.

Dave was a long time contributor to TMSC, over 30 years in fact, including a spell as Yacht Secretary followed by 24 years serving hungry sailors and their families. Members watched Kilby's Restaurant go from strength to strength over those years and enjoyed Dave's unfailingly excellent food and service, as well as his friendship.

Management Committee have agreed to honour Dave by way of The Dave Kilby Trophy which will be awarded annually to the winner of the Ladies Helm Yacht race, an event of which Dave was an active sponsor.

Serving TMSC was a big part of Dave's life and he was firmly at the heart of the club. We will always remember him.

Bob Wilkey

Commodore
