We are a friendly fleet who enjoy mixed handicap racing in the extensive waters of the Hamoze. We can sail at any state of the tide. With an active cadet section, training courses on offer for those starting or improving their sailing and a selection of club boats that can be hired on a race by race basis by those who do not own their own boats, Torpoint Mosquito is suitable for all sailors from beginners to the more experienced. Our fleet includes Lasers, Laser 2000s, Wanderers & Solo's but we welcome any PY class dinghy.
In the summer we race twice a week on Monday & Thursday evenings. This will start in April 2019. Registration date is Tuesday 02nd April 19:00. In the Autumn/Winter/Spring, we race on Sunday mornings. Unlike other clubs in the area we sail through the winter with just a short break in December/January – although look out for our famous Brass Monkey race on 1 January each year. Other highlights of our programme include a regatta in September 2019, two annual pursuit races – the challenging 13-mile Three Rivers which takes in the rivers Tamar, Lynher and Tavy and the Nearly St Germans – and our Christmas lunch in December and annual prize giving in November.
Dinghy racing and Cadet activities are supported by a fleet of three RIB Safety Boats which are helmed by members with a RYA PB2 qualification or higher. We welcome additional volunteers with or without qualifications who wish to support the Safety Boat team, please contact us if you are interested in helping out.
