Safety Boats

We operate three RIBs as Safety Boats in support of a range of Club activities including dinghy racing, cadet sessions, training and Ladies group sailing.

The boats VHF callsigns are "Seaguard" a former HMCG Rescue Boat, "Searider" which used to be the local HM Customs boat and "Seagreen" a Humber RIB, the end result of an impressive fundraising campaign by one of our youth members, Nick Green.

Safety Boats are always deployed at least two at a time so that they can support each other as well as their target group. At any time two of the boats will be moored afloat in Torpoint Yacht Harbour, the third ashore for routine maintenance.

Our Helms have a wide range of rescue experience with qualifications from PB2 to RYA Advanced. We run in-house RYA PB2 and RYA Safety Boat courses and can train up any Club member who would like to join our safety boat team, please leave a message for Nigel Bunker behind the bar or email rodestella@gmail.com
